Call for Entries!

Mar 4, 2009

I'm excited to announce that Spin-Off is launching a contest to celebrate the International Year of Natural Fiber and the winning entries will be featured in the Fall 2009 Handspun Gallery in Spin-Off! Entry guidelines are posted here. I'm excited to see what you all will come up with! We decided to make the garments scarves so that you could follow the guidelines for the Keep the Fleece project and enter the Knitting the World's Longest Scarf contest with the same entry if you are so inclined.

It looks like the project needs to have been made by the spinner beginning from the most raw form of the fiber.  (Or is that the "Save the Fleece" guideline?) Since I now live in the burbs and don't raise sheep or worms or bunnies or goats or... or... or..., and have battled tendon and carpal tunnel issues for years, I now spin from fibers that I purchase pre cleaned, and usually pre carded (since the carding is especially hard on my wrists).  Am I right in my understanding that all entries are to be from fibers spinners prepare at every step, or are entries welcome which contain only natural fibers (which may or may not have been cleaned and prepped by the spinner)?

p.s. What is the little "remember me?" box about at the bottom of the blogs?
