New SOAR registration

Feb 6, 2009

For the first time in SOAR's history—or at least that any of us can remember—we're doing away with a lottery at registration. Recently, we have also received much concerned feedback from participants who have encouraged us to reevaluate the on-site retreat sign up process. Valuing that input, as well as recognizing the safety and fairness issues involved, has prompted us to update our retreat sign up method to an online process alongside workshop registration. Registration for both workshop and retreat will now be conducted completely online and managed on a first come, first served basis. Visit the SOAR website InterweaveSOAR.com for course descriptions and more registration details. We look forward to seeing you in Sunriver!

This is great news, good work. I no longer need to fear workshop registration!

But won't this penalize folks who can't have computer access when registration opens (for example, due to their employment) or have old dial-up internet access?   Seems like they'd have better chances with a lottery.

Great News...I'm thrilled with this information and sincerely wish that I will be able to make arrangements to attend SOAR  in 2009.

Can we still attend SOAR and visit the vendor booths and/or the displays/fashion shows, even if we are not enrolled in any workshops?

Today is the first I've looked up the SOAR connection, and am VERY sad to see that the scholarship date has passed. (I hadn't realized there might even BE scholarships). On a teacher's salary in a high cost of living area, I simply can't afford the workshops and/or retreats out of pocket.  It makes me sad, as I have never ever had a spinning class or teacher, yet I've been spinning off and on for 18 years or so.  I teach third graders to knit and introduce them to spinning.  Spin Off Magazine has been my only teacher.

Does exclusion from the workshops mean exclusion from the whole SOAR experience?

My great great grandmother immigrated on the Oregon Trail to Bend, Oregon from the post Civil War South.  I was thinking of grabbing my sister and driving for a very long day to attend SOAR, meet some of the community, feel the energy, and check out the vendors and shows.  Is this an option if we aren't enrolled in classes? SOAR is in my neck of the woods this year.  I'd hate to miss out if there is something we can share.
