How do I put in a photo and attatch it to my log in name and post pictures to a message I write?
Is it possible to use a picture saved on my computer?
Thank-you for helping the computer uneducated spinner.
Hi spin1mom!
Putting in pictures is a fairly simple process, once you figure out which buttons to push. To change the picture which shows up on your profile and next to your forum posts (it's called an avatar), click the "edit" button in the far upper right of the page next to your user name. This will take you to an "edit your profile" page - once there, click the "change avatar" button. A small, white box will pop up - if you want to use an image that's already saved on your computer, stay on the "upload an avatar" tab, and just click the "browse" button. Locate the file you want to use, click "open", then click "use uploaded image" at the bottom of the white box. That should be all you need to do to set up or change your avatar.
The process to use pictures in a forum post is pretty similar. While typing your post, look at the top of the text window. There's a little icon that looks like a tiny roll of film with a green plus sign next to it. It's the "insert media" button - click it and you get a white box similar to the avatar upload box. To use a photo from your computer, stay on the "from computer" tab, then browse to the file like before, then click "insert". Ta-da! If you want to get fancy you can click on the photo after you've added it to your post, then click the "edit image" button (it's right next to the "insert media" button - it looks like a little tree with a pencil). This button gives you options to change the alignment of your photo, add more space around it, etc.
Hope that helps!
Stephanie, I went to your tech advice and was able to insert pictures into my text --- neat!!! Thanks for posting the "how to" instructions.

Stephanie, I've been trying to post a picture from my computer; and I think I have been following your directions accurately. I have tried so many times, as soon as I request "Browse", the picture of my rug comes right up. But when I try to "insert", I get a "Sorry, there was some problem". Can you help me? Midge
Hello Madge,
It sounds as if you need to reduce the picture quality
Mary
Hi Midge,
I agree. Unfortunately our software only gives one generic error message so you can't always be sure what's wrong, but if you're clicking on everything right and you're still getting a message, I'd try reducing the file size of the image. That should fix it, if not, we can try something else until we figure it out!
