This may seem a little early to ask this, but does any one know where the 2010 SOAR is being held at yet?

Hi!

We're still working on this--but we've narrowed it down to the northern mid-west of the United States, if that helps.

Best wishes,

Amy

Any chance of SOAR being in the Traverse City area again?  My spinning guild was just talking about this today.  The main comment I received was that it would be nice if it was more economical to attend.  The other thing that was said was hard to attend if you didn't sign up way ahead of time.  I would like to see SOAR be somewhere in the southern Michigan, Northern Indiana or Ohio area.  I  think it may draw more people than having it way up north.  It's always nice if it were within driving distance of other places of interest to visit with other spinners or your family.

If you need any help with the Midwest SOAR, let me know I may be interested to volunteer to help.

thanks

Thanks for the feedback from your guild about SOAR. We do everything we can to keep the costs at a reasonable rate--but if anyone has specific ideas for how we can make it more affordable, please let us know. When SOAR started, we were at more rustic locations (which were less expensive), but over the years our participants have requested more comfortable settings--but that comes at a price.

We need to have registration in May so that we can prepare for the event in October--but there is still room in SOAR 2009--so if you haven't registered yet, do it now!

We're always looking for new locations--so if you know of a resort that is affordable and can accommodate about 300 people, that has lots of classroom space where we can do messy things like dyeing, good lighting, nice gathering areas, and isn't too far (less than an hour) from a major airport, but not in an urban setting (we need it to be a peaceful, retreat-like setting), please let us know and we'll look into it as a possible location for SOAR.

Best wishes,

Amy

Hi Amy,

I am still trying to sort out SOAR 2009.  After much deliberation and procrastination I  registered for Soar and wonder of wonders got in, yay forme.  I will be flying into Bend from Florida and the flight schedules are a bit weird, for that reason I decided t o get there a day early so as not to miss anything.  The question I would like to pose to anyone flying into Redmond is this, con we try to coordinate arrival times as the shuttle service from sun river is a bit pricey at $75 for the first passenger and $10 for each additional.  I figured if we could get several people together the cost shared wouldn't be all that bad..Any other suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks much , myra

Hi,

Redmond to Bend is not that far.  I will be arriving on Saturday, don't know what time.  I am driving from Los Angeles and our vehicle will be packed to the gills.  I have a small car but once empty I could shuttle a few people and their equipment.  So, I am willing to do a few shuttle runs from Redmond to Bend on Sunday morning.  And I will do it for a mear $35--just joking.

Maybe some other's would also be willing to make a couple of shuttle runs.

But, let us coordinate it closer to October.

I'm pretty well set for my SOAR arrival and am just throwing this out: would one of the people looking for a ride want to start a SOAR Ride Forum?  Folks could put in pertinent travel information and everyone go from there.  This Spin Off online community would appear to be a perfect venue for this.  It might save Gwen lots of shuttling back and forth :-) if others with cars are able to shuttle people in.

Take care-Mariellen9(msb)

How soon do registrations for SOAR 2010 open? It seems like registrations fill quickly. I'd love to go next year but as it's international travel for me I'll need to start saving, organising travel documents and making plans for farm sitters so I'd like to know what the chances are before I go through all that.

I'm guessing it will open in May as that's when it opened this year. I don't know if it's correct but I found the following info for SOAR 2010 on a event callender

Wisconsin
Spin-Off Autumn Retreat (SOAR) Lake Delavan 2010: Oct 24–31 interweavesoar.com

It's from the Spinners and Weavers Assocation Event callendar which is at: http://www.spinweave.org/news/festivals.html

L.A. in FLA
