  • Re: What to take to SOAR

We're going to have a great time at SOAR! Office supplies: Bring packing tape, plastic baggies, tags with strings, post-it notes, notebook, pens, saftey pins, and scissors for labeling small bits of fiber, etc and making notes. Bring cards with your info to hand to new friends (moo cards are great...
  • Re: Sun River Resort Reservationists

I made reservations for myself and Joy Hogg. I met Joy at my first SOAR in 1999. We were had a mutal friend all of us being from Michigan. I also have my flight made. I plan on this one not being a repeat of SOAR 2006 in Tahoe. My flight should be much better than going into LA and I promise not to twist...

  • Re: SOAR 2010

Any chance of SOAR being in the Traverse City area again? My spinning guild was just talking about this today. The main comment I received was that it would be nice if it was more economical to attend. The other thing that was said was hard to attend if you didn't sign up way ahead of time. I would...

  • Re: SOAR 2009--Yahooooooo!

I accidently didn't put 'no' on the roommate section and got the screen a second time... so it slowed me down. I didn't get my first choice of the Silk Workshop, but that's ok... I actually have the attitude that I will land where I am supposed to be. at 10:06 with a fast hookup the...

Amelia, Did you sign up for one of the silk retreat classes? You can get almost everything you need from the retreat class. I took it at the Santa Monica fiber fest a few yrs ago.

  • Re: SOAR 2009--Yahooooooo!

I got into Sara Lamb's workshop, both of her retreats, Maggie's teaching spinning and was wait listed for Judith's plying. After much thought I decided to replace Judith with Carol's big spinning. I did't want to be patient in getting a replacement for the wait listed retreat. I don't...

  • Re: How many SOARS have you attended?

Hi Gwen, I should have also pointed out that this year we have room for more classes--15 (when normally we only can accommodate 12 classes) and therefore more people can attend. We're hoping that this means that everyone who wants to come to SOAR can. Best wishes, Amy
  • Re: How many SOARS have you attended?

Hi Midori, Thanks for your questions about SOAR. There are parts of SOAR that are open to the public at specific times. We usually send out a press release to area guilds and local newspapers and post them on our website as soon as the times are nailed down (a few weeks before SOAR). The market and the...
  • Re: New member

Hi, Rowena! Since you teach, you might well be able to get a scholarship to SOAR. They particularly want to help people who will go back to their communities and share what they have learned. As far as I know, scholarships and registration are over for this year, but you should look into it and apply...
