    Oh yes, definitely try different wools and even diferent fibers! I learned on romney, and it worked well, but it was way too scratchy for me, and I graduated as soon as I could to merino. Fine wools like merino might not be the best wool to start with, but you should be able to handle it fairly soon...

    Thanks, Amelia, for the link to the Khadi video. Same effect as listening to Celia Quinn share Bette Hochberg's spindle collection. You want to do it too. Not just for the pleasure of spinning, but for the connection to our own history and to other cultures.
