I started teaching myself to spin in 1981 and would have quit long before I spun a decent skein if it had not been for Spin Off and Rita Buchannan's articles. One of the things she wrote that made the most impression on me and saved me from giving up is that there are no laws in spinning and my way of spinning is as good as anyone else's if I am happy with my results. That thought has sustained me many times as I learned new skills. Many years later I was fortunate enough to take two of her workshops. I have wanted to attend SOAR ever since the first one and hope I can before I am too enfirmed to spin.

I have a tip I would like to share with other fiber artists about storing your stash of fibers and yarn. It occurred to me when I was watching a commercial about the storage bags you can buy that greatly reduces the size of a stack of clothes when you create a vacuum. I already had a food preserver machine that vacuum packs. I have used it to vacuum pack much of my stash of fibers greatly reducing the amount of space they took up in my very small work space. A maybe more important advantage is that it also protects my not inexpensive fibers from bugs and inqusitive grandchildren.

Thank you for all the hard work you put into such an indispensible magazine.

I am honored by your invitation.

Thank you for all you do with and for the spinning community. Thanks to your hard work (and the work of those before you) with the magazine, I have become a spinner. The magazine is excellent. It has been my only teacher. The website is stellar. Your attention to us is amazing. I look forward to the ways our online friendship might enrich both our lives.

Being a fairytale-lover, you must have read Women Who Run with the Wolves by Patricia Pinkola Estes? That book changed my life. Made me a fairytale lover too. And precipitated many years of study of Jungian psychology... everywhere there are threads of connection. I've even performed a telling of Skeleton Woman for a college public speaking course. It was amazing.

Have a great time in Maryland.

I love the sweater Hannah's wearing. Plus she looks like Mom. What a beautiful daughter.

Thanks for all you do for the spinning community.

Time passes

I can't believe how many years it has been since I last had a chance to talk with you. You hadn't married yet, nor had that adorable child been born.

I visit numerous web forums for my work, and it's a treat to find one FOR ME and my people and my spinning obsession. I'm so pleased the Spin-Off forums work so smoothly and look so beautiful-- just like Interweave publications.
