The best handspun, hand-knitted socks are those that feel comfy, don't stretch or slouch, and last as many winters as possible. Theories about when it comes to creating the perfect sock yarn, but most spinners will agree that elasticity and durability are two important features.

Wooly and warm, these socks are designed with a spinner's feet in mind. The cable motif shows well across the instep and down to the toes, so you can admire your work while treadling the hours away.

Whether you are using handcarded rolags, roving, or combed top, spinning with a worsted draw will add structure and strength to the final yarn. These socks are worked from the top down wiht a band heel construction. There is no gusset shaping with this traditional heel style; shaping occurs under the heel, creating a stockinette-stitch band.
