About Us

Spin Off celebrates the art and craft of handspinning, connecting you with natural fibers, time-honored techniques, and the people who keep the craft vibrant and alive.

Pamela K. Schultz

Editor — Southeastern North Carolina

Pamela loves collaborating with spinners, shepherds, and fiber lovers as they bring their ideas to life for Spin Off’s readers.

Pamela had been a knitter for nearly a decade when she discovered spinning during law school. Despite frustrating first attempts with a drop spindle and very compacted wool, she found spinning to be an invigorating escape from coursework and has been spinning ever since.

Pamela and her husband spend their free time letting their elderly border collie herd them into tight corners.

Kate Larson

Contributing Editor — Central Indiana

For nearly as long as Kate has been handspinning and knitting, she has been teaching others and building fibery communities.

While Kate has published a book, many articles and patterns, and several instructional videos, she especially loves celebrating the work of other fiber folks.

The editor of Spin Off from 2018–2025, she now directs spinning events in addition to editing Farm & Fiber Knits. If you can’t find Kate, she’s most likely in the barn having a chat with her beloved Border Leicester sheep.

Anne Merrow

Editorial Director — Fort Collins, Colorado

Anne learned to spin soon after moving to Colorado for a job editing craft books. (Previously, she was a devoted spinner at the gym, but she learned that making yarn is more fun.)

A former editor of spinning books and Spin Off magazine, she hosts the Long Thread Podcast.

Although she enjoys many fiber crafts, in her bones, Anne is a spinner.

Tiffany Warble

Director of Digital Content & Strategy — Fort Collins, Colorado

Tiffany is a lifelong creative with a passion for all things fiber arts. Since starting in media over 15 years ago, she has never looked back, bringing her expertise in content, digital strategy, and product development to everything she does at Long Thread Media.

Tiffany believes creativity enriches lives and thrives on inspiring and empowering others through craft. She lives in Colorado with her husband, and when she’s not picking up a new craft, you can find her hiking in the Rocky Mountains.

Angela K. Schneider

Project Editor — Memphis, Tennessee

Angela wrangles a crew of technical editors and reviews all project instructions to make sure they are complete, correct, and understandable, so readers can enjoy creating beautiful items.

As a complete fiber arts nerd, she’s a perfect fit for working with the wide variety of textile techniques that appear in Long Thread’s communities.

When she occasionally comes across a craft she doesn’t know yet, she’s happy to grab some materials and learn something new.

When not working with fiber, she turns her attention to patterns and strings of a different sort, as a swing and contra dancer, contra dance caller, and amateur musician.

Lavon Peters

Managing Editor — Loveland, Colorado

Lavon has dabbled in various crafts her whole life and has spent the bulk of her career working in publishing.

She loves that her role with Long Thread Media allows her to combine these two passions.

When not managing LTM content, Lavon enjoys reading, quilting, walking, and spending time with her young adult children.

Katrina King

Editorial Assistant — Colorado

Katrina instantly took to laceweight and support spindles, and she is yet to spin a thick yarn as her finger.

Her favorite part of spinning is the process—the feel of the fiber and the motions that go into making yarn.

While most spinners tackle their big projects during July’s Tour de Fleece, Katrina’s favorite time to spin is with college basketball’s March Madness games.
