Sarah Read is the project editor for Interweave Crochet._ In her spare time, she writes and reads and stalks flea markets for antique needlework. As we reach the final stretch before Spinzilla, we've invited her here to share her preparations for next week._

Sarah Read: In times like these, it's important to be ready, have a plan, be prepared. You can't be too careful.

I've put together a Spinzilla survival kit to get me through the week. I've got four different fibers I'm going to try to spin—a silk/BFL blend from Gherkins' Bucket, some superwash merino from Fiber Optic, some targhee from Mountain Colors, and some polwarth a friend sent me from New Zealand.

I've got a Lavishea lotion bar and my wheel oil to keep both me and my Polonaise, "Anne," from drying up. I've got a WPI tool, my niddy noddy, and my orifice hook for wrangling yarn. I have three bobbins free. I think that should be enough, since I'll need to wind the singles off to measure them, anyway, right? Please say yes—I don't think I can finish my other three works-in-progress before Spinzilla gets here!

I've also started a nice tall stack of long movies to watch while I spin, and a healthy supply of tea.

I'm ready (and excited!) for this monster to arrive! How are you preparing for the Spinzillacolypse? Show us your survival kits and share your preparedness strategy—we're all in this together.
