So You Want to Comb Wool

When I was a brand-new spinner, I read all about combing. I dreamed of perfectly combed top, made by my own two hands, light as a feather, and ready to become perfectly spun yarn. The reality, though, was sticky wool, combs that felt too big and cumbersome for my hands, and a quickly abandoned project. Sigh.

Luckily, with time, practice, and better instructions, I learned that combing is, in fact, a joy. In our new course, Getting Started with Wool Combing, Heavenly Bresser walks us through the simple steps you need to get started with combing wool and other protein fibers such as mohair. This is the resource I wish I’d had when I started combing, and it’s also a great refresher if you want to revisit this skill after some time away.

Join instructor Heavenly Bresser as she shares what you need to know to get started with wool combing.

So, what do you need to get started? All you really need is a pair wool combs, and some wool, but there are a few tips and some simple extras that will help you to make the most of this course. Watch Heavenly’s course, then read on to discover the secrets for successful combing on your first try!
