Well, as a spinner, whether you're just starting out or have been spinning for a long time, you have a connection to the elaborate history of this handcraft. Part of that history is the sheep that are currently designated as endangered. Each one of these breeds has unique qualities that can't be found in commercially bred sheep. To work with these wools is not only a treat, but a gateway into the rich history of spinning. Knowledgeable spinners can help protect these sheep for future generations of spinners to enjoy.
The Spin Off editorial team set out to enlighten spinners about these rare wools and in 2002 published the book Handspun Treasures from Rare Wools edited by Deborah Robson. Since thenthe book has gone out-of-print, but now we have compiled selections into an easy-to-download eBook!
