Fiber 100% Shetland (World of Wool), natural white, 3¼ oz (92 g). Contrasting colors (¼ oz [8 g] total): silk/yak (Ashen Wensleydales), greens and purples; Merino (Heidifeathers), green; art batt (YarnTings), blue/green; superwash Polwarth/nylon (Wingham Wool), pink/purple (dyed by author); Polwarth (World of Wool), red (dyed by author); superwash Cheviot (World of Wool), neon green (dyed by author).
Yarn 2-ply thick-and-thin bulky weight (575 ypp; 9 wpi), 115 (140) yd (105 [126] m).
Needles Size 7 (4.5 mm): 16" (40 cm) circular (cir). Size 9 (5.5 mm): 16" (40 cm) cir and set of doublepointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Other supplies Markers (m); tapestry needle.
Gauge 15 sts and 34 rnds = 4" (10.2 cm) in patt on larger needle.
Finished size 19¼ (21¼)" (49 [54] cm) circumference and 7 (7½)" (18 [18.5] cm) tall. Hat shown measures 19¼" (49 cm).
