Plenty of handspinners, weavers, ranchers, and natural fiber fans like sheep and wool . . . but not like Deborah Robson. With a passion for understanding and preserving the most unusual breeds of sheep, she is equal parts scholar and promoter.
She may be best known to, even revered by, a generation of handspinners as the author of The Fleece and Fiber Sourcebook with Carol Ekarius and the pocket-sized Field Guide to Fleece. She has a distinguished track record as an editor—Shuttle, Spindle & Dyepot, Spin Off magazine, and books including the massive Alden Amos Big Book of Handspinning.
Deborah has devoted herself to learning and teaching about the heritage of rare-breed sheep and has worked with the Livestock Conservancy’s Shave ‘Em to Save ‘Em program. Several times a year, she facilitates a retreat called Explore 4, where a small group of handspinners explores a selection of breeds.
Her video Handspinning Rare Wools is available from Long Thread Media.
