Most spinners have a terrible habit born out of good intentions: Seduced by some precious fiber, we buy some. Or we're given some by an incredibly thoughtful and generous friend. But instead of sitting right down to enjoy every fine moment, we "save" it until our skills are better, and we instead spin (and buy more of) perfectly fine but ordinary fiber. I recently came across some qiviut/wool blend that's been in my stash for at least five years, and I know there are two or three lots of cashmere there too.

Well, stop it.

Fiber is meant to be spun and enjoyed. And it doesn’t improve with age. The worst thing that can happen if you sit down to spin it is that the yarn doesn’t turn out like you hoped, but you’re sure to learn something. And never forget: They make more. Fiber is a renewable resource.
