In my fiber travels, I've heard many good things about the Peachtree Handspinners Guild (Georgia). The Atlanta-area guild places a strong emphasis on education and is known as a community of talented fiber artists who work to share their craft with others. On December 5th, members gathered to celebrate the guild's thirtieth anniversary. The event was hosted by the Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance (SEFAA) and included an exhibit of members' work. Guild copresident Janet Metzger tells us a bit about the day:
"We had a lovely exhibit and reception at the SEFAA space on December 5. Members enjoyed a lovely buffet prepared by Barbara Risjord. The exhibit showed members' first spun skeins, most recent skeins, and some finished objects from early and recent spinning, demonstrating the growth possible in members young and old. Our youth wall presented work from members ranging in age from 8 to 18."

SEFAA, an Atlanta-based nonprofit, has sought to "celebrate, support, and perpetuate all fiber arts forms" since 2009. They host a wide range of exhibits, workshops, and artist market events. To learn more about their new location (due to open Jan 1st) and future events, visit the SEFAA website and Facebook page.
