With all that’s going on, it’s difficult to remember the rituals that keep us grounded and connected to our community. Once again, the end of Janaury is here, and that means it’s time for the annual Spin-Along. This year, we’re thinking about movement, making, care, and the daily rituals that support us—literally and figuratively—from the ground up. Whether you’re standing all day, want something cozy as winter drags on, or just crave the buoyancy of making and community, your feet could probably use a little love. The theme for the 2026 Spin Off Spin-Along is “For Your Feet,” and we hope you'll join us.

Socks

You can find lots of socks to choose from in the Spin Off Library, but have you seen the Cymru Socks by Kate Larson? Designed for Farm & Fiber Knits in Garthenor Organic Snowdonia Sock, a lightweight Romney and Hebridean wool blend, these socks would be a fun pair to spin and knit.

If the fine gauge of sock yarn has you feeling anxious, how about scaling up to a pair of felted slippers, or perhaps you might want to add thrums to an unfelted pair for added cushion?

Flip Flops

If you live in a warmer climate, maybe your feet would rather breathe the fresh air. Why not tackle a little spinning for bandweaving? Jennifer Williams’s Tropical Sands Flip Flops are a great place to start!

Beyond Footwear

Socks, slippers, and flip-flops are all fun, but your feet deserve more than just that! Check out Betsy Alspach’s handspun rug hooked mat and make your own using our Rug Hooking Basics guide.

If you’re a weaver, consider taking your handspun to your loom and make a looped-pile rug. Or make a braided rag rug with scraps of handspun that’s too precious to throw away—the only limit is your imagination!
